Welcome to the 1Password for iOS newsletter!
I am Dave Teare, founder of AgileBits, and over the next few weeks I will be sending you some emails with useful hints and tips that will help you unlock the full potential of 1Password.
Your Master Password, which you chose when you set up 1Password for the first time, is used to protect your data. Be sure to remember this password as it is the only way to access your information. I recommend writing your Master Password down and storing it in a safe place.
Combining Security With Convenience
In order to help keep your data secure, 1Password locks when it hasn't been used for a while. By default, you’ll be asked to enter your Master Password after 10 minutes. If you’d like, you can change the amount of time 1Password will wait to lock in Security Settings.
On the right, you can see the lock settings I use on my iPhone. 1Password locks every time I exit the app or after I haven't used it for two minutes. I also have Touch ID turned on so I can unlock my vault with my fingerprint instead of my Master Password. I love how Touch ID allows me to access my data quickly while keeping it secure.
As much as I love Touch ID, my retina iPad mini doesn’t have it. Until I can get a new iPad with Touch ID, I’ve decided to balance security and convenience by disabling Lock on Exit and using a PIN Code.
For more details, check out the Security Settings section of the user guide.
I don’t want to overload you with details on your first day, so I’m going to wait until tomorrow to show you how easy it is to use 1Password within Safari.
Until next time, take care and be sure to join us in our forums if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you there :)
